Hi there - just stopping by via a link from Savvy. Don't want to stick my nose in wherre it does not belong, but may I suggest that your sons temporary choosing to live with his father is no negative reflection on your mothering?
We want our sons to be independent of us, to be healthy independents, not stunted dependents. And to experience decision making when the choices are still both good options. He wasn't choosing drugs vs mom, gangs vs mom, it was just dad or mom, which is a pretty positive choice considering the alternatives. He is showing you that he knows your love is unconditional, and regardless of his choice he is confident that you will love and support him. Perhaps that is the message you wanted him to get all through the years.
