Christmas cocktails

Okay, I'm charge of cocktails this Christmas Eve. I've been trying to come up with something different, something interesting for the family to indulge in this year. So I wandered off to FoodNetwork.com and found some nice recipes.

Santa's Sleigh Cocktail
Recipe courtesy Sandra Lee
Show: Semi-Homemade Cooking with Sandra Lee
Episode: Christmas

White sugar crystals, preferably coarse
2 cups store-bought eggnog, chilled
1/2 cup brandy
1/2 cup amaretto liqueur
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
2 scoops vanilla ice cream
4 cinnamon sticks
Dampen the rims of 4 martini glasses and then line the rims with sugar crystals.

Combine eggnog, brandy, amaretto, nutmeg, and ice cream in a blender; process until smooth. Pour mixture

Poinsetta Cocktail
Recipe adapted from Emeril's Creole Christmas Cookbook, by Emeril Lagasse with Marcelle Bienvenu, published by William Morrow, 1997
Show: Emeril Live
Episode: Christmas Eve Dinner

1/4 cup vodka
1/4 cup Champagne
1/2 cup cranberry juice
Crushed ice
2 strips orange zest, each about 1/4-inch wide and 2 inches long
Combine the vodka, Champagne and juice in a large-stemmed red wine glass. Add crushed ice and stir until the mixture is well chilled. Twist the orange strips over the glass, drop them in, and serve.

Christmas Jones

From Metro Marche

The Christmas Jones is one of the cocktails on Metro Marche's Bond Cocktails menu for the release of Casino Royale. This drink begins with a blend of the flavor ingredients and is topped off with 7-Up for a little fizz, then garnished with fresh mint. Making it a yummy holiday drink. This recipe makes two highball drinks.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 4 fresh strawberries
  • 1 part vodka
  • 2 tsp superfine sugar
  • 5 oz pineapple juice
  • 7-Up
  • mint sprigs for garnish

PREPARATION:

  1. In a blender, whiz the vodka, strawberries, sugar and pineapple juice together.
  2. Pour the mix equally into two highball glasses.
  3. Top with 7-Up.
  4. Garnish with a sprig of mint.

Now I am going try these, let's see which one wins!!!
